Guided Tissue Regeneration

What is Guided Tissue Regeneration?

Guided tissue regeneration is an innovative gum disease treatment that helps promote the natural regrowth of bone and ligaments. This specialized procedure targets areas where periodontal disease has caused bone destruction, offering hope for patients with severe bone loss. Unlike traditional methods, guided tissue regeneration creates an environment that encourages your body's natural healing processes to rebuild the lost bone.

"Dr. Sigafoos has done extensive periodontal work on me and I can say that he certainly deserves the many awards and recognition that have been given to him. I have been extremely pleased with the results of his work."

Guided Tissue Regeneration Procedure

Dr. Sigafoos performs guided tissue regeneration using biocompatible barrier membranes and bone grafting materials. During this precise periodontic treatment, damaged tissue and decalcified bone is carefully removed, and special membranes are placed to prevent fast-growing gum tissue from interfering with slower-regenerating bone and ligament formation.

This meticulous approach addresses the underlying causes of bleeding gums and bad breath treatments by restoring healthy tissue architecture.

Dr. Sigafoos has been treating patients throughout the greater San Diego area, including Mira Mesa, Sorrento Valley, Poway, and La Jolla, for over two decades.
